Harley-Davidson Insurance

We’re proud to be part of the Harley® family. Harley-Davidson Insurance Services is an affiliate of Harley-Davidson Inc. We’ve been protecting Harley® motorcycle enthusiasts in the United States for more than 20 years, while writing motorcycle insurance in 48 states. We are not currently in Alaska, Hawaii, or Washington D.C. For much of our history, we have been appointed to many of the top motorcycle insurance carriers, including Progressive Insurance, Dairyland Insurance, Foremost Insurance, and other top motorcycle insurers. For a brief period of time, we moved to exclusively writing new policies with the Progressive Motorcycle Insurance product. All of these experiences have led us to where we are today, which is selling a unique Harley-Davidson® Insurance product, designed specifically for the Harley® motorcycle rider. We care about you. We’re dedicated to your safety and the safety of your passengers. That’s why we encourage you to ride safely and respectfully, and within the limits of the law and your abilities. Always wear an approved helmet, proper eyewear, and protective clothing—and insist your passenger does the same. Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. And finally, know your Harley®, and read and understand your owner’s manual from cover to cover. Together, we can do our part to make the roads safer for all of us.

Motorcycle Group Riding Tips and Best Practices

Posted by Harley-Davidson Insurance on Jul 11, 2020 3:15:00 PM

One of the greatest joys of motorcycling is riding with friends. But riding in a group presents special challenges – whether your “group” consists of two riders, a dozen, or more.

Group riding connects us in a way that solo riding can’t. As a group of bikes rumble through town or across the countryside, each rider is experiencing the same scenery, the same weather, the same road conditions, etc., even as each individual may experience them in a different way.

This gives gas stops and lunch breaks a whole new dimension, where riders swap stories that are as fresh as a still-too-hot cup of coffee. Fresh perspective is what’s great about group riding.

By learning some of the basic guidelines of group riding, you can help make sure your next outing is safe and enjoyable for all.

Finding the Right Fit: Take Care of Your Vertebrae

Posted by Harley-Davidson Insurance on Jul 5, 2020 11:44:00 AM

We love to ride. We live to ride. We know how it feels when the challenges of the world melt away under the rumbling peace of long rides down two-lane blacktops. At times, it feels like we can ride through a dozen sunsets and sunrises without stopping.

For some of us, however, our spirit of adventure is far more indomitable than our bodies will allow. We lie in bed at night dreaming of our next great ride, and in our fantasy we are supple and lithe, because in our mind we always default to the very best version of ourselves. And then morning comes. With a Herculean effort, we hoist ourselves out of bed and lament the passing of the guy who made last night’s fantasies look easy.

Many of us have never had back problems, and we want to keep it that way. We have to take care of our bodies so they can continue to serve us for years to come. Riding for long periods of time, unfortunately, can take its toll on our lower back. Many of us know what that feels like, and many of us know how lower back pain and stiffness can dampen the exhilaration of a great ride.

Women are fueling the future of motorcycle riding, according to new data from the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC). In the last 10 years, the number of women riding motorcycles has roared up 9 percent, driven in part by Gen Y women.

The MIC polled 2,472 adults across the United States for the 2018 Motorcycle/ATV Owner Survey to confirm that a wave of women has entered the sport. A solid 19 percent of motorcycle owners are women. When isolating for Gen Y, that number rockets up to 26 percent.

Tips for How to Clean and Inspect Your Motorcycle

Posted by Harley-Davidson Insurance on Jun 29, 2020 1:00:00 PM

—There are two types of riders: those who relish the ritual of cleaning their bikes and those who see it as a chore. Regardless of the tribe you belong to, you have to clean your bike. Not only will your bike last longer, it will run better. Yes, there’s truth to that axiom.

When you scrub dirt and grit out of the hand levers and brake discs, you can improve their performance and extend their life. Besides, you don’t want rust forming. But, more importantly, pressure washing your motorcycle and wiping it down every few days offers you an opportunity to perform a T-CLOCS inspection.
