People can't stop talking about #vanlife, but if the goal is to get back to basics and strip things down to the bare essentials, motorcycle campers already have a foot on the ground. Two-wheeled travel is always better - keep reading to learn why two-wheeled travel is the only way to travel.
Take a breath and breathe in the freedom of the open road. Riding around your city is fun. Riding around your state is exhilarating. Riding your Harley-Davidson® motorcycle around the country, exploring places you’ve only imagined or dreamed of, can be life-altering—and with a few simple preparations, it’s easier than you might think. Here are a few tips to start planning your ultimate road trip.

PACK SMART:
Invest in easy-to-secure luggage. When packing, be mindful of center of gravity, making sure the heaviest items are stowed low and toward the center of the bike. Balance the load on both sides of the bike, and take care to make sure the load won’t shift or touch any hot parts in transit.

PACK LIGHT:
Seasoned motorcycle campers trim their “necessities” to a bare minimum—don’t forget, you can always get stuff along the way. Take some time to work out just what you need, then stick to that list. Modern self-supporting tents are light, compact, and easy to set up. Same with sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and other camping essentials— shop and pack accordingly.

PLAN RIGHT:
Before you set off, make sure your bike is serviced and in good condition. The day before you leave, do a trial run of packing and riding your bike. Reassess what you are taking to make sure you are not overpacked, and confirm that everything is efficiently placed and secure.
